English Copywriter

The English Copywriter collaborates with Art Directors and Creative Directors to develop strategically sound ideas for a range of brands, audiences and marketing channels that include broadcast, print, digital, promotions and direct mail. They develop, write, edit and oversee copy revisions to ensure the creative integrity of the product is maintained as well as the creative strategy and project objectives are met. They are a strong strategic thinker who considers the big picture in addition to the small details in order to help the agency deliver the best product.

 

Creative Idea Generation / Research

  • Attend creative briefings / product information sessions for concept development and creative brand strategy
  • Review creative briefs, product information and target audience to determine tone and style of concept/copy
  • Research and strategize copy/content for all projects as needed

 

Copywriting/Editing

  • Write and edit copy appropriate for each project to fulfill the conceptual vision as created by the team and meet the objectives as stated in the brief
  • Write, edit, proof and oversee all copy revisions to ensure creative integrity from the brief through to final product
  • Initiate, revise and communicate copy changes with key internal/external contacts as required
  • Ensure work is approved/vetted by the project’s Creative Director prior to any internal or client presentation

 

Management and Direction

  • Cast and direct voice talent in studio
  • Provide input to internal creative processes
  • May liaise with contracted freelance copywriters

 

Client Interaction

  • Present creative work to the client and help to sell-in agency recommendations
  • Receive feedback from client on copy material

  • Bachelors degree or College Diploma in a relevant field
  • Approximately 3+ years of related industry experience
  • Experience in an advertising agency
  • Demonstrated track record of client relationship development and service

  • A positive, can do attitude that leads by example
  • Strong leadership, social, interpersonal, selling and negotiation skills
  • Ability to independently problem solve
  • Strong communication, analytical and presentation skills
